Enterprises producing the fluorine products have innovative technology of processing depleted uranium hexafluoride (DUHF) – a by-product of the main uranium production. Due to defluorination, DUHF is transformed to a chemically safe form – uranium oxide which can be stored for a long time without risks to the environment. Among the fluorine containing products generated in defluorination of uranium hexafluoride – hydrofluoric acid and anhydrous hydrogen fluoride are used both in atomic and other industries. Hydrogen fluoride and hydrofluoric acid are used in aluminum industry and for processing stainless steel and alloys, glass etching, as well as in oil and gas, chemical and atomic industries
Lithium fluoride salts, as an electrolyte component, play a key role in the production of Li-ion batteries.
Lithium fluoride is used in optics, in silicate industry, as well as an additive to aluminum-electrolysis alloys at the time of welding and soldering.
